If you are 65+ years old or know people who are, you probably have wondered if Medicare covers the cost of dental procedures. It’s fair to assume that oral-care is a part of general health and should be covered under Medicare. However, for whatever reason, oral-health is considered its own thing when it comes to insurance laws and regulations.

Some of Soothing Dental dentists, are Medicare providers and therefore can perform certain operations that are related to oral-care. However, unlike dental insurances, it’s not easy to say if a certain procedure is or isn’t covered by Medicare. It all depends on clinical conditions of the patients and what their needs are. The determination can only be done by a dentist who is also a Medicare provider. We try to provide some information on what might or might not be covered by Medicare in the dental world so that you know your options.

Does Medicare cover dental procedures?

According to Medicare’s website, “Medicare doesn’t cover most dental care, dental procedures, or supplies, like cleanings, fillings, tooth extractions, dentures, dental plates, or other dental devices.”. However, Medicare does cover the cost for addressing the issues with infected teeth which can lead to infected bones. Bone grafts and some exams (depending on the conditions). Some procedures that are involved in performing dental implants might also be covered by Medicare. However, what is and what isn’t covered is determined on a case by case basis.

If you are covered under Medicare and are thinking of dental implants or any type of oral surgery like bone grafting contact our offices and book an appointment for a consult with one of our Medicare dentists. After the examination they are able to tell you how much Medicare will cover and how much your cost will be. In a lot of cases, Medicare pays up to $30,000 for dental related procedures.

Concat our offices by calling +1 650 730 2217.

There are two major types of dental insurances: PPO and DMO. The PPO one allows you to go to any office and the insurance company pays a certain percentage of your costs. DMO assigns you to a specific office and you will have to go to that one office.

We accept all PPO dental insurances but we are not a part of any DMO plan. We also do not accept Denti-cal.

How can you determine if you have a PPO insurance or a DMO?

It’s usually written in your insurance card. Look for the word PPO or DMO anywhere on your card. Another indication is that if your insurance company has assigned you to a certain dental office. That means that you have a DHMO plan.

Can you tell me what my insurance is?

Absolutely. If you cannot tell what your plan is, we can check it for you. We can also check your annual limits and your coverage. Send an email to appt@soothing.dentaland send us the following information and we will check it for you:

Name
Date of birth
The name of the insurance company
Group ID
Member ID (or Social Security Number)

Once we receive this information, we will contact your insurance company and check your information and get back to you (usually within a few business hours).

If you don’t have dental insurance (or if you have a DHMO plan but want to have a soothing experience in our offices) you have two options:

1- Pay out of pocket
2- Subscribe to our one of our plans (recommended)

We believe in price transparency. All of our prices are published online and you can check them out here: api.soothing.dental/dental-cost-estimator

You can come to any of our offices and pay for the cost of the procedure that you need OR subscribe to one of our plans and be charged a discounted rate. Think of our plans as something like a Costco membership. You pay a monthly fee and in return you get discounted rates.

We have a few plans (starting from $30 per month) that cover many of your procedures (up to 100%). Unlike traditional insurance plans, our plans don’t have annual limits and cover many services not covered by any insurance (like cosmetics, surgery, Invisalign, etc). We also don’t have any wait-time for our plans. You can start using them as soon as you sign up.

You can signup online with one of our plans or you can book an appointment and come to our office and we will help you choose the plan that works for you. You can then activate it right away while in the office.

No we are not but we are not the cheapest one either.

We offer the absolute highest quality of dentistry. We always use the latest technologies to make dentistry comfortable for you. Not only we invest in latest technologies, we also invest in education. Our dentists, specialists and hygienists are constantly learning the most advanced newly developed methods to make sure you have a great experience.

We manage our offices very efficiently using our own software and tools and we transfer these savings to you.

Even if you don’t have dental insurance, our plans offer you significant savings. They give you affordability for our premium service (the reason is that we don’t go through insurance companies and we transfer these savings to you). If you don’t have dental insurance, we suggest that you subscribe to our plans instead (we are 10-40% more affordable than any insurance company for monthly fees, have no limits and even cover cosmetic services).

Our prices are published online for everything that we do. You can use this tool to get an estimate of your expenses. The final cost will depend on the details of your insurance plan and if you have reached the annual limit of your plan (our own plans don’t have any annual limits).

Our plans cover various dental procedures based on the categories they fall under. The reason is that some procedures are more involved than others in terms the time that the dentist spends, lab and material cost, complexity and third party expenses.

If you need to know what category each procedure falls under, you can check our dental cost estimator. Then simply search for the procedure that you have on mind and see the category of that procedure together with other useful information.

There is an easy way to figure out which plan minimizes your costs. As a rule of thumb, here is how you can pick your plan:

1- If you don’t have much work and have taken great care of your teeth and you want a plan to maintain your oral health the Silver plan is your best option. It covers 100% of your preventative care (regular cleanings, Xrays, checkups, etc). It also covers 25% of your minor care (like fillings) which works great if you have an occasional filling (which happens to the best of us).

2- If you already have some fillings or you need regular deep cleanings you are better off with our Gold plan.

3- If you need more than just a few fillings or have significant dental work or you may want to do cosmetic procedures (like whitenings) the Platinum plan will work for you.

If you are still not sure what plan to choose, we can also help you. You can book your initial appointment with us. We will do a checkup in the office and help you pick the plan that minimizes your costs and you can activate your plan right away. The nice thing is that your checkup visit will be covered once you activate your plan.

It’s a question that we are asked often.

Unlike PPO plans, Soothing Dental plans have no annual limits, no frequency limits and no wait-time. This means that you can signup and see a dentist right away. You can even book your appointment and come to our office and signup for a plan there. Our plans start from $30 per month. Even the lowest Soothing Dental plan provides unlimited coverage for preventive work like regular cleanings.

We also have lifetime warranty for any ceramic work as long as you have an uninterrupted membership and come to your annual dental checkups. This means that if there is any issue with, for example, one of our crowns; we will fix it at no cost to you.

With Soothing Dental plans your dental work is covered in any Soothing Dental office. All of our offices provide modern dentistry with latest technologies and amazing experienced dentists and staff. You can watch a movie on VR glass while the work is being done in our office.
